Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening over northwest and north central Kansas. Severe storms are not expected, but some locally heavy rainfall will be possible.
The chance for storms will continue into the overnight hours over north central Kansas. Otherwise, the rest of the state will remain dry with lows in the 70s.
For the remainder of the week, the main weather headline will be the very hot temperatures. This will likely be the hottest week of the year so far for most of Kansas.
Daytime highs will reach the 90s and 100s everyday this week. Muggy conditions over eastern Kansas will lead to heat index values between 100 to 110 degrees.
The hot weather pattern may break down a bit heading into the upcoming weekend. Highs may fall back into the low 90s with a returning chance for showers and storms.
